In each case, the catalyst for the campaign was information gathered and disseminated by transnational advocacy networks (TANs) of researchers, academics, and activists. Both campaigns were successful despite opposition from industry supporters. Meanwhile, simultaneous campaigns to manage land in another part of the Yucatán and to conserve migratory birds in Egypt had far less success. Fuentes-George uses these four cases to analyze factors that determine the success or failure of efforts by TANs to persuade policymakers and private sector actors in developing countries to change environmental behavior."--Provided by publisher. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 610 20 Convention on Biological Diversity (Organization)|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2010009593 610 27 Convention on Biological Diversity (Organization)|2fast |0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1779531 650 0 Biodiversity conservation|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87005570|xGovernment policy|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh99005269|zDeveloping countries. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85037341-781 650 0 Biodiversity conservation|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87005570|xInternational cooperation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00006352 650 0 Biodiversity conservation|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87005570|xGovernment policy|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh99005269|zJamaica.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81008540-781 650 0 Biodiversity conservation|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87005570|zMexico|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81013960-781|xGovernment polcy. 650 0 Biodiversity conservation|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87005570|xGovernment policy|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh99005269|zEgypt.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80061791-781 650 0 Non-governmental organizations.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh86007360 650 7 Biodiversity conservation|xGovernment policy.|2fast|0https ://id.worldcat.org/fast/1429872 650 7 Biodiversity conservation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1429861 650 7 Biodiversity conservation|xInternational cooperation. |2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1429874 650 7 Non-governmental organizations.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1038524 651 7 Developing countries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1242969 651 7 Jamaica.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1211575 651 7 Mexico.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1211700 651 7 Egypt.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1208755 653 ENVIRONMENT/General 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aFuentes-George, Kemi.|tBetween preservation and exploitation.|dCambridge, MA : MIT Press, [2015]|z9780262034289|w(DLC) 2015038396|w(OCoLC)933385893 830 0 Politics, science, and the environment.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no97049002 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1231886|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
