In Brazil, the West African Yoruba concept of àsé is known as axé and has been reinvented, transmitted, and nurtured in Candomblé, an Afro-Brazilian religion that is practised in Salvador, Bahia. The author examines how these concepts have been appropriated and reinvented in Brazilian popular music and culture. 546 English. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Popular music|zBrazil|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh88004798|xAfrican influences.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99002260 650 0 Candomblé music|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001002826|xHistory and criticism.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001187 650 7 Popular music.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1071422 650 7 MUSIC|xGenres & Styles|xPop Vocal.|2bisacsh 650 7 Candomblé music.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 845671 650 7 MUSIC|xEthnomusicology.|2bisacsh 650 7 Popular music|xAfrican influences.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1071423 651 7 Brazil.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1206830 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aHenry, Clarence Bernard.|tLet's make some noise.|dJackson : University Press of Mississippi, ©2008|z9781604730821|z160473082X|w(DLC) 2008004436 |w(OCoLC)191846994 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=263303|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
