One of the weakness of canonical criticism, then, is its failure to have generated new readings of extended biblical passages. Reviewing the hermeneutics and the praxis of Childs' approach, Lyons then turns to the Sodom narrative (Gen 18-19) as a test of a practical exegesis according to Childs' principles, and then to reflect critically upon the reading experience generated. Surprisingly, the canonical reading produced is a wholly new one, centred around the complex, irreducible. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Childs, Brevard S.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n50037747 600 17 Childs, Brevard S.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 12871 630 00 Bible|xCanonical criticism.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh91004143 630 00 Bible.|pGenesis, XVIII-XIX|xCriticism, interpretation, etc. 630 00 Bible.|pGenesis, XVIII-XX|xCanonical criticism. 630 7 Bible.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1356024 650 7 Canonical criticism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1907301 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aLyons, William John.|tCanon and exegesis.|dLondon ; New York : Sheffield Academic Press, ©2002|z1841272957|z9781841272955|w(DLC) 2002416914 |w(OCoLC)49833755 830 0 Journal for the study of the Old Testament.|pSupplement series ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42014009 |v352. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=243810|zOnline eBook.
