By providing a long -term historical perspective on Turkey's economy and its relationship to Islamism, this volume explores how Islamism as a political ideology has been utilized by the conservative bourgeoisie in Turkey, and elsewhere, to establish hegemony over labor. The contributors analyze the relationship between neoliberalism and the political fortunes of the Islamist Justice and Development Party (AKP), and examine the similarities and differences amongst new factions in the secular and Islamic middle class that have benefited economically, socially, and culturally during the AKP's reign. The articles also investigate the impact of the Gülen Movement and the role of the media in shaping the contours of intra-class struggle within contemporary Turkish political and social life. 546 Translated from the Turkish. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Capitalism|xReligious aspects|xIslam.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2020001239 650 0 Neoliberalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2005001629|zTurkey.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n80070818-781 650 0 Islam|xEconomic aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh96003700|zTurkey.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80070818-781 650 0 Islam and politics|zTurkey.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008104950 650 7 Economic policy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 902025 650 7 Capitalism|xReligious aspects|xIslam.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/846447 650 7 Neoliberalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1737382 650 7 Islam|xEconomic aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/979791 650 7 Islam and politics.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 979879 650 7 Politics and government.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1919741 651 0 Turkey|xEconomic policy.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010115705 651 0 Turkey|xPolitics and government.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85138842 651 7 Turkey.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1208963 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Electronic books.|2lcgft 700 1 Balkan, Nesecan,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2002096061|eeditor. 700 1 Balkan, Erol M.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n94005111|eeditor. 700 1 Öncü, Ahmet F.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2002154397|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tNeoliberal landscape and the rise of Islamist capital in Turkey.|bEnglish-language edition. |dNew York : Berghahn Books, 2015|z9781782386384|w(DLC) 2014029068|w(OCoLC)886672603 830 0 Dislocations ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2005081900|vv. 14. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=795191|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
