In this book, Caoimhín De Barra focuses on nationalists in Ireland and Wales between 1860 and 1925, a time period when people in these countries came to identify themselves as Celts. De Barra chooses to examine Ireland and Wales because, of the six so-called Celtic nations, these two were the furthest apart in terms of their linguistic, religious, and socioeconomic differences. The Coming of the Celts, AD 1860 is divided into three parts. The first concentrates on the emergence of a sense of Celtic identity and the ways in which political and cultural nationalists in both countries borrowed ideas from one another in promoting this sense of identity. The second part follows the efforts to create a more formal relationship between the Celtic countries through the Pan- Celtic movement; the subsequent successes and failures of this movement in Ireland and Wales are compared and contrasted. Finally, the book discusses the public juxtaposition of Welsh and Irish nationalisms during the Irish Revolution."--Provided by publisher. 588 0 Print version record and CIP data provided by publisher; resource not viewed. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Celts|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85021727 |xPolitics and government.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh2002011436 650 0 Celts|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85021727 |xEthnic identity.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005645 650 0 Nationalism|zIreland.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008108288 650 0 Nationalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85090150|zWales.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80014574-781 650 0 Civilization, Celtic.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85026448 650 7 Celts|xPolitics and government.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/850421 650 7 Celts.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/850410 650 7 Ethnicity.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/916034 650 7 Nationalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1033832 650 7 Civilization, Celtic.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 862989 651 7 Ireland.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1205427 651 7 Wales.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1207649 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aDe Barra, Caoimhín, 1984-|tComing of the Celts, AD 1860.|dNotre Dame, Indiana : University of Notre Dame Press, [2018]|z9780268103378|w(DLC) 2017055845 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1723747|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
