CACFP has the broadest scope of any of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) food program, serving more than 3 million children and 114, 000 adults across the nation. To receive reimbursement for the foods served, participating programs must abide by requirements set by the USDA. Child and Adult Care Food Program assesses the nutritional needs of the CACFP population based on Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) and makes recommendations for revisions to the CACFP meal requirements. The book outlines meal requirements that include food specifications that could be used for specific meals and across a full day, covering all age groups from infants to older adults and meal patterns designed for use in a variety of settings, including in- home care and in large centers. By implementing these meal requirements, consumption of fruits, vegetables, and whole -grain rich foods will increase while consumption of solid fats, added sugars, and sodium will decrease. Not only will this address the high prevalence of childhood obesity, it will also help to achieve consistency with the standards and regulations of other USDA nutrition assistance programs, particularly the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs. Child and Adult Care Food Program makes practical recommendations that would bring CACFP meals and snacks into alignment with current dietary guidance. This book will serve as a vital resource for federal and state public health officials, care providers working in child and adult day care facilities, WIC agencies, officials working with the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, and other organizations serving at- risk populations."--Publisher's description. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 610 20 Child & Adult Care Food Program (U.S.)|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/names/no97021869 610 24 Child & Adult Care Food Program (U.S.) 610 27 Child & Adult Care Food Program (U.S.)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/726720 650 0 Nutrition|xRequirements|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85093463|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78095330-781 650 0 Nutrition policy|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008108543 650 0 Diet|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008102259 650 0 Health behavior|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008121464 650 0 Food|xStandards|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2008120953|zUnited States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78095330-781 650 0 Minorities.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85085792 650 2 Nutritional Requirements.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D009751 650 2 Food|xstatistics & numerical data.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov /mesh/D005502Q000706 650 2 Adult.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D000328 650 2 Child.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D002648 650 2 Socioeconomic Factors.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D012959 650 7 Nutrition|xRequirements.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1042237 650 7 Nutrition policy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1042296 650 7 Diet.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/893284 650 7 Health behavior.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 952816 650 7 Food|xStandards.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 930620 650 7 Minorities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1023088 651 2 United States.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D014481 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 0 CD-ROMs. 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Murphy, Suzanne P.|q(Suzanne Pierce)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2011085343 700 1 Yaktine, Ann L.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2006184819 700 1 Suitor, Carol West.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79116323 700 1 Moats, Sheila A.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2011097465 710 2 Institute of Medicine (U.S.).|bFood and Nutrition Board. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n88008998 776 08 |iPrint version:|aInstitute of Medicine (U.S.).
