This volume explores various images of maternity and infancy, and the identification of women and womanhood in prehistoric and classic societies. Aspects such as the crucial role of maintenance activities and care, the processes of socialization and learning, the impact of infant death, the figure of the mother queen, the religious discourses about motherhood, the rules on parental rights, the transgressions of traditional motherhood and the emotional aspects of the mother-child relation are analysed. The book covers the ancient Mediterranean area, from Mesopotamia to the Iberian Peninsula and from prehistoric communities to classic societies, with Mesopotamian, Phoenician and Iberian examples. A multidisciplinary approach is adopted, analysing material culture, representations and texts to gain a deeper understanding of the plurality of motherhood, and the diversity of women's agency through history. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 To 1500|2fast 650 0 Motherhood|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85087522|zMediterranean Region|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85083230-781|xHistory|yTo 1500. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006121 650 0 Children|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023418|zMediterranean Region|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85083230-781|xHistory|yTo 1500. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006121 650 0 Infants|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85066022|zMediterranean Region|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85083230-781|xHistory|yTo 1500. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006121 650 7 Motherhood.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1026907 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Children.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/854835 650 7 Infants.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/972103 650 7 Civilization.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/862898 650 7 Antiquities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/810745 650 7 Motherhood.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001001 650 7 Children.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0000255 651 0 Mediterranean Region|xCivilization|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85083231|xHistory|yTo 1500.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006121 651 0 Mediterranean Region|xAntiquities.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008115835 651 7 Mediterranean Region.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1239752 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Sánchez Romero, Margarita,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/no00094661|eeditor. 700 1 Cid López, Rosa María,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n97070818|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tMotherhood and infancies in the Mediterranean in antiquity.|dOxford : Oxbow Books, 2018 |z1789250382|w(DLC) 2018951271|w(OCoLC)1027810088 830 0 Childhood in the past monograph series ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2011027986|vv. 7. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1914994|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
