Claudio Arrau was considered the complete pianist because he went beyond mere technique, and took listeners into the mind of the composer, as if he were a medium through whom the composer was speaking. He was therefore known universally as "The Emperor." This programme traces Arrau's life from his birth in Chile in 1903 up to his triumphant homecoming in 1984 after a seventeen-year absence, and includes his own commentary on his life and music. It concludes with a performance of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto in Santiago's Metropolitan Cathedral given before 6,000 wildly enthusiastic young people. 588 0 Vendor-supplied metadata. 600 10 Arrau, Claudio,|d1903-1991.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81084040 600 10 Arrau, Claudio,|d1903-1991|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n81084040|xTravel|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005039|zChile.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79061242-781 600 17 Arrau, Claudio,|d1903-1991.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/76607 650 0 Pianists|vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008109348 650 0 Concertos (Piano)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85030211 650 7 Travel.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1155558 650 7 Pianists|xBiography.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 2041231 650 7 Concertos (Piano)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 873657 650 7 Pianists.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1063351 651 7 Chile.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1205362 655 7 Biographies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1919896 655 7 Internet videos.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1750214 655 7 Internet videos.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026337 655 7 Video recordings.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2011026723 655 7 Video recordings.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1692913 655 7 Biographies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026049 700 1 Rosen, Peter,|d1943-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /no2005061602|efilm director. 700 1 Bookspan, Martin,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n86025448|einterviewer (expression) 700 1 Arrau, Claudio,|d1903-1991,|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n81084040|einstrumentalist,|einterviewer (expression) 700 1 Tevah, Victor,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82215989|econductor. 700 12 |iContainer of (work):|aBeethoven, Ludwig van,|d1770-1827. |tConcertos,|mpiano, orchestra,|nno. 5, op. 73,|rE♭ major.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n81142208 710 2 Classical Music Video Productions,|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2015127955|eproduction company. 710 2 Peter Rosen Productions,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n82017698|eproduction company. 710 2 Universidad de Chile.|bOrquesta Sinfónica,|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n83127162|einstrumentalist. 856 40 |3Medici.tv|uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// edu.medici.tv/movies/claudio-arrau-the-emperor-peter-rosen |zAccess restricted to current Rider University students, faculty, and staff. 901 MARCIVE 20231220 948 |d20181012|cLTI|tlti-aup183 948 |d20171012|cLTI|tlti-aup173 948 |d20170313|cRDT original load 948 |d20170922|clti|tlti-aex 994 C0|bOCL
