The country finds itself at a crossroads--it can emulate the models of Western countries with their well-known limitations, or embark on an ambitious endeavor to create an innovative and sustainable model. We recommend that China choose the second option and design and implement a health care system based on population health management principles and sophisticated health information technology. Taking this path could yield a triple dividend for China: Health care will contribute to the growth of service sector employment, stimulate domestic demand by unlocking savings, and enable China to export its health system development capabilities to other emerging economies, mirroring its success in building other critical infrastructure. These forces can help turn the Chinese Dream into a reality. 588 0 Print version. 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 650 0 Medical policy|zChina.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010101144 650 0 Health insurance|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85066932|zChina.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79091151-781 650 0 Older people|xMedical care|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85002111|zChina.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79091151-781 650 0 Medical care|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85082871|xInformation technology|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002012003|zChina.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79091151-781 650 7 Medical policy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1014505 650 7 Health insurance.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1715839 650 7 Older people|xMedical care.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/1199115 650 7 Medical care.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1013753 650 7 Information technology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/973089 650 7 Medical care.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001004 651 2 China.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D002681 651 7 China.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1206073 655 0 Electronic book. 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Liu, Hangsheng,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2013183483|eauthor. 700 1 Hunter, Lauren,|eauthor. 700 1 Gu, Kun,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2014184535 |eauthor. 700 1 Newberry, Sydne J.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n96062776|eauthor. 710 2 RAND Health.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2001145525 710 2 Rand Corporation,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n78083407|eissuing body. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aMattke, Soeren.|tRole of health care transformation for the Chinese dream.|dSanta Monica, CA : RAND, [2014]|z9780833086921|w(DLC) 2014018211 |w(OCoLC)873763141 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.7249/j.ctt6wq8fd|zOnline eBook.
