Analysing the material culture of the two sacraments against common ritual expectations and Christian theology, we evince the mannerin which the luminous effect was reached through a combination of constructive techniques and perceptual manipulation. One nocturnal and one diurnal, the two ceremonials represented different scenarios, testifying to the capacity of church builders and willingness of Late Antique bishops to stage the ritual experience in order to offer God to the senses. 588 0 Print version record and CIP data provided by publisher; resource not viewed. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Paulinus,|cof Nola, Saint,|dapproximately 353-431.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n50080430 600 07 Paulinus,|cof Nola, Saint,|dapproximately 353-431.|2fast |0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1840510 648 7 30-600|2fast 650 0 Worship|xHistory|yEarly church, ca. 30-600.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85148565 650 0 Liturgies, Early Christian.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85077736 650 0 Baptism|xHistory|yEarly church, ca. 30-600.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85011722 650 0 Liturgy and architecture.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85077738 650 0 Light in architecture.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85076895 650 0 Architecture|zItaly|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85006661|zRavenna.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79042080-781 650 0 Light|xReligious aspects|xChristianity.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh91002645 650 7 Liturgies, Early Christian.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/1000592 650 7 Liturgy and architecture.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1000594 650 7 Light in architecture.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /998551 650 7 Architecture.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/813346 650 7 Light|xReligious aspects|xChristianity.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/998494 651 0 Ravenna (Italy)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79042080|xChurch history.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh99005023 651 7 Italy|zRavenna.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1204953 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Church history.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1411629 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:|aIvanovici, Vladimir.|tManipulating theophany.|dBoston : De Gruyter, 2016|z9783110376326 |w(DLC) 2016034351 830 0 Ekstasis (Walter de Gruyter & Co.) ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2009101872|vv. 3. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1294752|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
