"In Chapter One, Dr. Bakyt Baimatov, PhD aims to demonstrate the way Soviet collectivization has ushered in plethora of tectonic changes in the consciousness and socioeconomic livelihoods of the rural poor in then Pre-Soviet Kirghizia, who were culturally and developmentally backward, arguing that the resulting transformations are unprecedented in the history of the Kyrgyz nation. In Chapter Two, Hans-Balder Havenith, Ruslan Umaraliev, Romy Schlögel, and Isakbek Torgoev provide a review of the socioeconomic impacts of natural disasters in Kyrgyzstan, attempting to show that earthquakes effected things like governmental structure at a central level.
