These ideas inform the ways in which, for example, consumers acquire and use mobile phones; companies promote and sell voice, SMS and data subscriptions; and state actors regulate both everyday use of mobile phones and market activity around mobile phones. Ambivalence and disagreement about who owes what to whom is thus an integral feature of the moral economy of mobile phones. This volume identifies and evaluates the stakes at play in the moral economy of mobile phones. The six main chapters consider ethnographic cases from Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Vanuatu. The volume also includes a brief introduction with background information on the recent 'digital revolution' in these countries and two closing commentaries that reflect on the significance of the chapters for our understanding of global capitalism and the contemporary Pacific. 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 650 0 Telecommunication|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85133270|zPacific Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85096445-781 650 0 Information technology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh87002293|zPacific Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85096445-781 650 0 Consumption (Economics)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85031498|zPacific Area.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85096445-781 650 7 Telecommunication.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1145830 650 7 Information technology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/973089 650 7 Consumption (Economics)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/876455 651 7 Pacific Area.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1243504 653 Australian 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Horst, Heather A.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2006037351 700 1 Foster, Robert John,|d1957-|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n88124727 710 2 Australian National University Press.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/nb2018017990 776 08 |iPrint version:|tMoral economy of mobile phones.|dActon, A.C.T. : ANU Press, 2018|w(DLC) 2018404319 830 0 Pacific series.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2018172245 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/j.ctv1rmks3|zOnline eBook.
