Through an equal consideration of child and adult perspectives, Fay explores what child protection means for Zanzibari children who have to negotiate their lives at the intersections of universalized and local "child protection" aspirations while growing up to be pious and responsible adults. Through a visual and participatory ethnographic approach that foregrounds young people's voices through their poetry, photographs, and drawings, paired with in-depth Swahili language analysis, Fay shows how children's views and experiences can transform our understanding of child protection. This book demonstrates that to improve interventions, policy makers and practitioners need to understand child protection beyond a policy sense of the term and respond to the reality of children's lives to avoid unintentionally compromising, rather than improving, young people's well-being. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 School discipline|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85118314|zTanzania|zZanzibar.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80121277-781 650 0 Corporal punishment of children|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2004011624|zTanzania|zZanzibar. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80121277-781 650 0 Rewards and punishments in education|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85113544|zTanzania|zZanzibar. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80121277-781 650 0 Child welfare|zTanzania|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2009119044|zZanzibar.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80121277-781 650 0 Children|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023418|zTanzania|zZanzibar|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80121277-781|xSocial conditions.|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 7 School discipline.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1107289 650 7 Corporal punishment of children.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1736309 650 7 Rewards and punishments in education.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1096806 650 7 Child welfare.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/854709 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Children.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/854835 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE / General.|2bisacsh 650 7 Children|xSocial conditions.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/855145 650 7 Children.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0000255 651 7 Tanzania|zZanzibar.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1250037 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aFay, Franziska|tDisputing Discipline |dNew Brunswick : Rutgers University Press,c2021 |z9781978821743 830 0 Rutgers series in childhood studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n2002106683 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2553837|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
