Summary |
Marie-Hélène Rebois goes back over 20 years of contemporary creation at the Festival Montpellier Danse. Initiated in July 1981 by the French choreographer Dominique Bagouet, the Festival Montpellier Danse has become since then one of the highlights of the international choreographic season. Welcoming every year the most famous companies and choreographers, such as Batsheva, Nederlands Dans Theater, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, William Forsythe, or Sankaï Juku, the Festival Montpellier Danse has remained over the years true to its original mission: to be an open place of encounter and research between the different trends of the ballet scene. The leading figures of the Americain modern dance rub shoulders with dancers from Burkina-Faso, baroque dance companies invite hip hop dancers to perform jointly. Movie director Marie-Hélène Rebois revisits the Festival Montpellier Danse for its 20th anniversary, and draws an exhilarating picture of the contemporary ballet scene. |
