Over 70 new finds have increased the number of known wall blocks and fragments to nearly 300, offering new insights into Diogenes' distinctive presentation of philosophy. This collection of essays discusses the philosophical significance of these discoveries and is the first of this kind entirely devoted to Diogenes of Oinoanda. Particular attention is paid to his philosophical aims and polemical strategies. Diogenes was apparently well aware of still ongoing philosophical debates, engaging in polemics against Presocratic philosophers, Platonics, and especially Stoics. His views about important issues like happiness, fear, old age, and the afterlife are explained on the bases of Epicurean physics and theology, ethics, politics, theory of knowledge, and psychology. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Diogenes,|cof Oenoanda.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n50082073 600 07 Diogenes,|cof Oenoanda.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/19729 650 0 Epicureans (Greek philosophy)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh96001809 650 7 Epicureans (Greek philosophy)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/914072 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2lcgft|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/gf2014026068 655 7 Conference papers and proceedings.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1423772 776 08 |iPrint version:|tDiogenes of Oinoanda epicureanism and philosophical debates.|dLeuven : Leuven University Press, [2017]|z9789462701014|w(OCoLC)987744692 830 0 Ancient and medieval philosophy.|nSeries 1 ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42034502|vLV. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1521979|zOnline eBook.
