Taking Iran's nuclear programme as a case study, this book offers extensive textual analysis, comparative investigation and socio-political contextualisation of national identity in newspaper reporting. In addition to providing comprehensive accounts of theory and methodology in Critical Discourse Analysis, the book provides a valuable extensive discussion of journalistic practice in Iranian and British contexts, as well as offering insights into historical development of 'discourses in place' in Iran. Across four separate chapters, major national and influential newspapers from both countries are critically analysed in terms of their micro-linguistic and macro- discoursal content and strategies. The book is a vital source for interdisciplinary scholarship and will appeal to students and researchers across the critical social sciences, particularly those in linguistics, media and communication studies, journalism and international politics. 588 0 Print version record and CIP data provided by publisher. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Discourse analysis|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85038362|xPolitical aspects.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00005651 650 0 Discourse analysis|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85038362|xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh00005651|zIran.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79039880-781 650 0 Nuclear weapons|zIran|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008108247|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 0 Nationalism.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85090150 650 0 Rhetoric|xPolitical aspects.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85113632 650 0 Mass media and language.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85081882 650 0 Iranian newspapers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85067924|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Journalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85070736|zIran|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79039880-781|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Government and the press|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85056044|zIran.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/n79039880-781 650 0 British newspapers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh89000450|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Journalism|zGreat Britain|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2009127894 650 0 Government and the press|zGreat Britain.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009125996 650 7 Discourse analysis|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/894937 650 7 Discourse analysis.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 894932 650 7 Nuclear weapons.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1040971 650 7 Nationalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1033832 650 7 Rhetoric|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1096959 650 7 Mass media and language.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1011351 650 7 Iranian newspapers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 978810 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Journalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/984032 650 7 Government and the press.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/945183 650 7 British newspapers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 839085 651 7 Iran.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204889 651 7 Great Britain.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204623 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Case studies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423765 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Case studies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2017026140 776 08 |iPrint version:|aKhosraviNik, Majid.|tDiscourse, identity and legitimacy.|dAmsterdam ; Philadelphia : John Benjamins Publishing Company, [2015]|z9789027206534|w(DLC) 2015025309 830 0 Discourse approaches to politics, society, and culture ; |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n2002090905|vv. 62. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1058621|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
