Summary China and the United States have much to gain by learning from each other as they each face their own innovation imperatives. To help advance cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, the National Academies' Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy (STEP) convened a symposium that brought together senior officials from China and the United States, as well as leading academics, and business people who are influential in the formation of innovation policies.
