To improve the situation, the Convention on the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution (Bucharest Convention) was signed in 1992 and the Black Sea Commission (BSC) was established. 'Environmental protection by the Black Sea Commission: Organisation and performance in comparison with the Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM)' provides a comprehensive up-to-date analysis of the BSC?s role as a regional actor in the environmental protection of the Black Sea, addressing the following main questions: What are the main (institutional and regulatory) challenges and obstacles for the effective functioning of the BSC and how can they be overcome? What is the current and future role of the BSC as a regional player for the protection of the Black Sea? What possibilities and potential does the BSC have to promote the harmonization of national legal frameworks in relevant areas? The research is based on a comparative analysis with Helsinki Commission (HELCOM) which has been a renowned environmental protection actor in the Baltic Sea region for more than 40 years. 588 Online resource; title from PDF title page (EBSCO, viewed April 24, 2018). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 610 20 Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n83039066 610 27 Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission.|2fast |0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/580031 650 0 Environmental management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh95010683|zBlack Sea.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85014616-781 650 0 Environmental management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh95010683|zBaltic Sea.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011368-781 650 7 Environmental management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/913186 650 7 Environmental conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1983362 650 7 BUSINESS & ECONOMICS / Real Estate / General.|2bisacsh 650 7 Ecology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/901476 651 0 Black Sea|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85014616|xEnvironmental conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005384 651 7 Black Sea.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1242937 651 7 Black Sea Region.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1342390 651 7 Atlantic Ocean|zBaltic Sea.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/1241545 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |cOriginal|z908952200X|z9789089522009|w(OCoLC)1012501575 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1664714|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
