This paper analyzes the roles of demand and supply factors in explaining this credit cycle. Our analysis first focuses on a large sample of bank-level data on credit growth for the entire CESEE region. We complement this analysis by five case studies (Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Poland, and Romania). Our results of the panel data analysis indicate that supply factors, on average and relative to demand factors, gained in importance in explaining credit growth in the post-crisis period. In the case studies, we find a similar result for Lithuania and Montenegro, but the other three case studies point to the fact that country experiences were heterogeneous.-- Abstract. 588 0 Online resource; title from pdf title page (IMF.org Web site, viewed January 27, 2015). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Banks and banking|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85011609|zEurope, Central.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85021901-781 650 0 Bank loans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011575|zEurope, Central.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85021901-781 650 0 Credit|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85033856 |zEurope, Central.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85021901-781 650 0 Business cycles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85018278|zEurope, Central.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85021901-781 650 0 Bank management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011578|zEurope, Central.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85021901-781 650 0 Banks and banking|zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2009116760 650 0 Bank loans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011575|zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045765-781 650 0 Credit|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85033856 |zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85045765-781 650 0 Business cycles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85018278|zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045765-781 650 0 Bank management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011578|zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045765-781 650 0 Banks and banking|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh85011609|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 0 Bank loans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011575|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 0 Credit|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85033856 |zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85011191-781 650 0 Business cycles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85018278|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 0 Bank management|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011578|zBalkan Peninsula.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011191-781 650 7 Banks and banking.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 826867 650 7 Bank loans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/826704 650 7 Credit.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/882525 650 7 Business cycles.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 842457 650 7 Bank management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 826723 651 7 Central Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244544 651 7 Eastern Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1245079 651 7 Balkan Peninsula.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1241484 700 1 Everaert, G.|q(Greetje)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/no2005078049 710 2 International Monetary Fund.|bEuropean Department.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n86100166 830 0 IMF working paper ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no89010263|vWP/15/15. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1254354|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
