Once resettled at the northern extreme of the Americas, these political exiles had to find ways of coping with an abrupt and violent separation from their homeland that had deep material and emotional repercussions. In Young, Well- Educated, and Adaptable, Francis Peddie documents the experiences of twenty-one Chileans as they navigate their newfound identity as exiles. Peddie also considers how the admission of people from the wrong side of the Cold War ideological divide had an effect on Canadian immigration and refugee policy, establishing a precedent for the admission of political exiles over the decades that followed. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 647 7 Cold War|d(1945-1989)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1754978 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 21st century|2fast 648 7 1900-2099|2fast 650 0 Chileans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023926|zOntario|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79034979-781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Chileans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023926|zOntario|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79034979-781|xHistory|y21st century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Chileans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023926|zQuébec (Province)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80001244-781|xHistory|y20th century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Chileans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85023926|zQuébec (Province)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80001244-781|xHistory|y21st century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Exiles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85046366 |zOntario|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79034979- 781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Exiles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85046366 |zOntario|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79034979- 781|xHistory|y21st century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Exiles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85046366 |zQuébec (Province)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80001244-781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Exiles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85046366 |zQuébec (Province)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80001244-781|xHistory|y21st century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006168 650 0 Cold War|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh88005637|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh00002758|zCanada.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79007233-781 650 7 Chileans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/857002 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Exiles.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/918139 650 7 Social aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1354981 651 7 Ontario.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204832 651 7 Canada.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204310 653 Canada 653 HISTORY / Latin America / South America 653 SOCIAL SCIENCE / Emigration & Immigration 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 776 08 |iPrint version:Peddie, Francis, 1970-|tYoung, well- educated, and adaptable.|kStudies in immigration and culture|kStudies in immigration and culture ; |w(CaOONL)20149032870 830 0 Studies in immigration and culture ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2008052107|v10. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=854576|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
