Summary |
Recorded on 12/10/04 in BLC Theater, as part of the Rider University English Department's Distinguished Writers Program. African American writer, Edgar Wideman speaks about fiction writing, his own writing style and work habits. He speaks about time, "imagination time" and "dream time". He believes that "good writing is a collective activity, a community work". With this in mind, he puts his new novel in progress, Frantz Fanon in test by reading excerpts from his journal and asking his young audience to share thoughts. This work is a fictional portrait of political activist, Frantz Fanon's life, from his Martinique upbringing through the publication of his work. Includes questions and answers. |
