"Food writers commonly exhort their readers to "vote with their fork" in support of a progressive food policy agenda. However real voting involves supporting political parties, and most people do not know the political history of food. This book examines Democratic and Republican approaches to food policy in the spirit of helping the foodies and farmers see where things stand. The book introduces the reader to the political game of food policy in order to explain "Red" and "Blue" history with food policy. This work introduces the political context for understanding partisan food policy history: the "business" of farming and the "sport" of team politics in American government.
