Exile from Nazi Germany was a global phenomenon involving the expulsion and displacement of entire families, organizations, and communities. While forced emigration inevitably meant loss of familiar structures and surroundings, successful integration into often very foreign cultures was possible due to the exiles' ability to access and/or establish networks. By focusing on such networks rather than on individual experiences, the contributions in this volume provide a complex and nuanced analysis of the multifaceted, interacting factors of the exile experience. This approach connects the NS-exile to other forms of displacement and persecution and locates it within the ruptures of civilization dominating the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Contributors are: Dieter Adolph, Jacob Boas, Margit Franz, Katherine Holland, Birgit Maier-Katkin Leonie Marx, Wolfgang Mieder, Thomas Schneider, Helga Schreckenberger, Swen Steinberg, Karina von Tippelskirch, Jörg Thunecke, Jacqueline Vansant, and Veronika Zwerger"--Provided by publisher. 546 In English and German. 588 0 Online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on August 11, 2016). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 647 7 World War|d(1939-1945)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1180924 648 7 1933-1945|2fast 648 7 20th century|2fast 648 7 1900-1999|2fast 650 0 Germans|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85054461|xMigrations|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005937|xHistory|y20th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Forced migration|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh88005789|zGermany|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n80125931-781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Germans|zForeign countries|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85054462|xHistory|y20th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Social networks|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh87002172|zForeign countries|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001185-781|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002006165 650 0 Exiles|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85046366 |xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 Refugees|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85112299|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006165 650 0 World War, 1939-1945|xRefugees|zGermany.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2010119785 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Germans|xMigrations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 942129 650 7 Germans.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/942100 650 7 Forced migration.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 931606 650 7 Germans|xForeign countries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/942117 650 7 Exiles.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/918139 650 7 Refugees.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1092797 650 7 Social networks.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1122678 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xDiscrimination & Race Relations.|2bisacsh 650 7 Foreign countries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1353122 650 7 SOCIAL SCIENCE|xMinority Studies.|2bisacsh 651 0 Germany|xHistory|y1933-1945.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85054594 651 0 Germany|xSocial conditions|y1933-1945.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh85054658 651 0 Germany|xHistory|y20th century.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85054584 651 7 Germany.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1210272 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Schreckenberger, Helga,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n87131093|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tNetworks of refugees from Nazi Germany. |dLeiden ; Boston : Brill, [2016]|z9789004322721|w(DLC) 2016023872 830 0 Amsterdamer Beiträge zur neueren Germanistik ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n42001851|vBd. 87. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1939724|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
