Summary Stéphane Vérité narrates the story of his production of Philip Glass's opera Les Enfants terribles, which he directed for stage in Bordeaux. Stéphane Vérité tells that he discovered by chance in Paris a recording of Les Enfants terribles, an opera by Philip Glass composed on a libretto by Susan Marshall, based on a novel by Jean Cocteau. He is imediately impressed by the orchestration: "the presence of only three pianos to accompany the adaptation of this violent text intrigued me, he says. When I first heard it, I was taken by the whirlwind of the keyboards, fascinated by the head-spinning orchestration". The idea of a new staging for the opera blooms. Thierry Fouquet, the director of the Bordeaux National Opera, is in. The project can start. In November 2011, the show is performed on the stage of the Bordeaux Opera (which co-produced it with the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao). It is an immediate success, thanks to the perfection of the score itself, the artistic quality of the casting and of the music direction (held by Emmanuel Olivier) and the creativity of Stéphane Vérité's staging, who chose digital images for his set designs.
