Bibliography Includes bibliographical references.
Summary One of the most researched and discussed problems of the Bronze Age in the Aegean is the question of the absolute date of “the Santorini eruption”, i.e. the explosion of the Santorini volcano, a disaster that affected the lives of people in the vast region from Egypt to the Middle East to Central Europe. Opinions of natural sciences and traditional archaeology do not match as they determine that the event could have happened in a broad period from the mid-17th to the end of the 16th century BC. The work analyses individual arguments and methodological approaches and tries to address the question of the disagreement between them.
