It considers scales from universal history to meso-regional (i.e. Balkans, Central Europe, etc.) perspectives. In the form of a reader, it displays 18 historical studies written between 1900 and 1943. The collection starts with the French and German methodological discussions around the turn of the twentieth century, stemming from the effort to integrate history with other emerging social sciences on a comparative methodological basis. The volume then turns to the question of structural and institutional comparisons, revisiting various historiographical ventures that tried to sketch out a broader (regional or European-level) interpretative framework to assess the legal systems, patterns of agrarian production, and the common ethnographic and sociocultural features. In the third part, a number of texts are presented, which put forward a supranational research framework as an antidote to national exclusivism. While in Western Europe the most obvious such framework was pan-European, in East Central Europe the agenda of comparison was linked usually to a meso-regional framework. The studies are accompanied by short contextual introductions including biographical information on the respective authors"--|cProvided by publisher 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Transnationalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh00009276|xHistoriography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00006046 650 0 History|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85061212|xComparative method.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005284 650 0 History|xMethodology.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85061218 650 7 Historiography.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958221 650 7 Transnationalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1154884 650 7 History|xComparative method.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/958244 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 History|xMethodology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 958259 651 0 Europe, Eastern|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85045765|xHistoriography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00006046 651 0 Europe, Central|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85021901|xHistoriography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00006046 651 0 Balkan Peninsula|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85011191|xHistoriography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00006046 651 7 Eastern Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1245079 651 7 Central Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244544 651 7 Balkan Peninsula.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1241484 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Trencsényi, Balázs,|d1973-|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /names/no2002110236|eeditor. 700 1 Iordachi, Constantin,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/nr2003023350|eeditor. 700 1 Apor, Péter,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n2007023923|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tPerspectives on comparative and transnational history in East Central Europe and beyond. |dBudapest ; New York : Central European University Press, 2021|z9789633863619|w(DLC) 2021002793 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=2656460|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
