Responses to the Histories were rich and varied, and the range of Hellenistic writers responding in different ways to Herodotus' work is in part a reflection of the 'Histories 'own broad scope. The 'Histories' remained relevant in this later age and continued to speak meaningfully to a broad range of readers long after Herodotus' death. This book explores a variety of discourses where Herodotus occupies an important place in the intellectual background, and, in particular, it draws attention to writers not usually categorized as historians in order to broaden our perspectives on Herodotus' cultural importance. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 00 Herodotus.|tHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /n79092672 600 00 Herodotus|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79086888 |xCriticism and interpretation.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99005576 600 07 Herodotus.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/40347 630 07 History (Herodotus)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1356346 648 7 500-499 B.C|2fast 650 0 History, Ancient|xHistoriography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008105652 650 7 Criticism and interpretation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1198648 650 7 History, Ancient|xHistoriography.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/958355 650 7 HISTORY|xAncient|zGreece.|2bisacsh 650 7 FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDY|xAncient Languages.|2bisacsh 650 7 Historiography.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958221 651 0 Greece|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85057073|yPersian Wars, 500-499 B.C.|xHistoriography. 651 7 Greece.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1208380 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aPriestley.|tHerodotus and Hellenistic culture.
