Note The 2nd work originally for string orchestra or string quintet.
The 5th work incorporates a folk song from the Nei Monggol region of Mongolia; the 7th work is the middle movements of a string quartet called Clouds; the 8th work comprises excerpts from a larger work called Eight colors.
"Dim sum to us means that instead of presenting large multi-movement works for string quartet that often last a half hour, we offer a selection of shorter musical delicacies.... This enables the listener to sample a tempting variety of music by contemporary Chinese-American composers in the same way that the style of eating dim sum offers a table full of steaming, bite-sized morsels."--Notes, p. 3.
