Drawing on a wide range of texts, Vladimir Braginsky uncovers manifold metamorphoses and diverse forms of localisation of this Turkic-Turkish theme. This theme has strongly influenced the religious and political ideals and political mythology of Malay society. By creating fictional rather than realistic portrayals of the Turks and Turkey, imagining the king of Rum as the origin point of Malay dynasties, and dreaming of Ottoman assistance in the jihad against the colonial powers, Malay literati ultimately sought to empower the Malay self by bringing it closer to the Turkish other. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Malay literature|xHistory and criticism.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008107210 650 0 Turks in literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85138920 650 0 Islam and literature|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85068417|zMalaysia.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79022246-781 650 7 Malay literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1006464 650 7 Turks in literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1159607 650 7 Islam and literature.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 979875 651 0 Turkey|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80070818|xIn literature.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2002011414 651 7 Turkey.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1208963 651 7 Malaysia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204590 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aBraginskiĭ, V.I.|tTurkic-Turkish theme in traditional Malay literature.|dLeiden ; Boston : Brill, [2015]|z9789004290709|w(DLC) 2015034144|w(OCoLC)911019987 830 0 Verhandelingen van het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde ;|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n42025907|v301. 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1090800|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
