This volume explores the history and roles of jazz in Poland, the German Democratic Republic (GDR), Czechoslovakia, Hungary, the Soviet Union, and the Baltic States by means of several case studies. The American administration attempted to destabilize the political systems of the Eastern Bloc countries, while the powers responsible for culture in the Eastern Bloc countries tried to curtail the US propaganda campaign. This resulted in distinct jazz traditions and jazz scenes, each governed by a distinct behavioural codex, as well as official responses in each of the Eastern Bloc countries.-- |cProvided by Publisher. 650 0 Jazz|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85069833 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zEurope, Eastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85045765-781 650 0 Jazz|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85069833 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zBaltic States.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85011369-781 650 0 Jazz|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85069833 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zGermany (East)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n80125938-781 650 0 Jazz|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85069833 |xPolitical aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh00005651|zRussia (Federation)|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n92056007-781 650 0 Socialism and music.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2001002507 650 0 Communism and music.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85029156 650 7 Jazz|xPolitical aspects.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/2061605 650 7 Jazz.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/982165 650 7 Socialism and music.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1123693 650 7 Communism and music.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 870518 651 7 Eastern Europe.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1245079 651 7 Baltic States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1241546 651 7 Germany (East)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1210274 651 7 Russia (Federation)|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1262050 700 1 Pickhan, Gertrud,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ nr97013116|eeditor. 700 1 Ritter, Rüdiger,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2005005068|eeditor. 776 0 |z9783631664094 776 0 |w(GyWOH)har165001220 830 0 Jazz under state socialism ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2011147283|vv. 4. 901 MARCIVE 20231220 948 |d20181012|cLTI|tlti-aup183 948 |d20171012|cLTI|tlti-aup173 948 |d20170922|clti|tlti-aex 994 C0|bWCH
