The impetus for this book is to explore from the perspectives of three disciplines--archaeology, genetics, and linguistics--the background in later European prehistory to these developments. There is a traditional scenario, according to which, Celtic speech and the associated group identity came in to being during the Early Iron Age in the north Alpine zone and then rapidly spread across central and western Europe. This idea of 'Celtogenesis' remains deeply entrenched in scholarly and popular thought. But it has become increasingly difficult to reconcile with recent discoveries pointing towards origins in the deeper past. It should no longer be taken for granted that Atlantic Europe during the 2nd and 3rd millennia BC were pre-Celtic or even pre-Indo-European. The explorations in Celtic from the West 3 are drawn together in this spirit, continuing two earlier volumes in the influential series"--Provided by publisher. 588 Description based on online resource; title from digital title page (viewed on September 14, 2017). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 To 1500|2fast 650 0 Civilization, Celtic.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85026448 650 0 Celtic antiquities.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh88001075 650 0 Bronze age|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85017095|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe) 650 0 Iron age|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85068153|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe) 650 0 Ethnoarchaeology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85045191|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe) 650 0 Group identity|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85057485|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe)|xHistory|yTo 1500. 650 0 Celtic languages|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85021721|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe)|xHistory|yTo 1500. 650 0 Language and culture|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85074514|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe) |xHistory|yTo 1500. 650 0 Human population genetics|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85062885|zAtlantic Coast Region (Europe) |xHistory|yTo 1500. 650 7 Civilization, Celtic.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 862989 650 7 Celtic antiquities.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 850379 650 7 Bronze age.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/839439 650 7 Iron age.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/979145 650 7 Ethnoarchaeology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 916070 650 7 Group identity.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/948442 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Celtic languages.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 850386 650 7 Language and culture.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 992135 650 7 Human population genetics.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/963201 651 0 Atlantic Coast Region (Europe)|xAntiquities, Celtic. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Koch, John T.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n94098862|eeditor. 700 1 Cunliffe, Barry W.,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79059942|eeditor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|tCeltic from the West 3.|dOxford : Oxbow Books, 2016|z9781785702273|w(DLC) 2016004318 830 0 Celtic Studies Publications (Series)|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n94098872 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1554897|zOnline eBook.
