The eight visual narratives that make up award-winning Australian photographer Jenny Papalexandris's intimate and thematically rich Five Bells offers a celebration of queer life, giving the reader a visual portrait of everyday life among queer-identifying people, from joyful images of weddings and family gatherings to more contemplative portraits of rural youth and asylum seekers. In so doing, the book presents a series of neither caricatures nor stereotypes but of individuals--active agents in the universal quest for happiness, intimacy, fulfillment, respect, and a sense of belonging. This is the human face of the queer community in Australia, and these beautifully crafted and life- affirming photographs, in black-and-white and in color, show us the personal and psychological landscape of what it means to be part of a community that is as vibrant as it is diverse. 588 0 Print version record and CIP data provided by publisher; resource not viewed. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Photojournalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85101288|zAustralia, Southeastern.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh91006460-781 650 0 Gay people|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85061795|zAustralia, Southeastern|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh91006460-781|xSocial life and customs|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001008851|vPictorial works.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 0 Transgender people|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2007003708|zAustralia, Southeastern|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh91006460-781|xSocial life and customs|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh2001008851|vPictorial works.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 0 Gay community|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh91003435|zAustralia, Southeastern|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh91006460-781|vPictorial works. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 0 Lesbian community|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh95005870|zAustralia, Southeastern|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh91006460-781|vPictorial works. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 0 Social justice in art|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2015000275|vPictorial works.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 0 Gender identity in art|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh97000999|vPictorial works.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001272 650 7 Photojournalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1062022 650 7 Gays.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/939255 650 7 Manners and customs.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1007815 650 7 Transgender people.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1765239 650 7 Gay community.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1432142 650 7 Lesbian community.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1432151 650 7 Social justice in art.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast /1921435 650 7 Gender identity in art.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/939604 650 7 Homosexuals.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000648 650 7 Transgender people.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0001378 650 7 Gay community.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000485 650 7 Lesbian community.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000733 651 7 Southeastern Australia.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1692667 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Pictorial works.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1423874 655 7 Illustrated works.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026111 655 7 Illustrated works.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1423873 776 08 |iPrint version:|aPapalexandris, Jenny.|tFive bells.|dNew York : New Press, 2016|z9781620971666|w(DLC) 2016001637 |w(OCoLC)921870557 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1195970|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
