Do new forms of economic and cultural globalization open spaces for women's empowerment and feminist politics? The rapid social transformations experienced by the people of the Czech Republic in the wake of the collapse of communism in 1989 afford political scientist Jacqui True with an opportunity to answer these questions by examining political and gendered identities in flux. She argues that the privatization of a formerly state economy and the adoption of consumer-oriented market practices were shaped by ideas and attitudes about gender roles. Though finely tuned to the particular, local traditions that have defined the boundaries of globalization for Czech men and women, Gender, Globalization, and Postsocialism also offers a provocative general thesis about the inextricable linkages between political and economic changes and gender identities. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Sex role|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85120663|zCzech Republic.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n90718759-781 650 0 Man-woman relationships|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh92001504|zCzech Republic.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n90718759-781 650 0 Sexual division of labor|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85120730|zCzech Republic.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n90718759-781 650 0 Women|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85147274 |zCzech Republic|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n90718759-781|xSocial conditions.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008850 650 0 Social structure|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85124078|zCzech Republic.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n90718759-781 650 0 Globalization.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99010179 650 0 Feminist economics.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh95004310 650 7 Sex role.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1114598 650 7 Man-woman relationships.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1007080 650 7 Sexual division of labor.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1114830 650 7 Women.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1176568 650 7 Social conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1919811 650 7 Social structure.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1123372 650 7 Globalization.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/943532 650 7 Feminist economics.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 922764 650 7 Gender roles.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000577 650 7 Women.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0001509 650 7 Womyn.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0001516 651 7 Czech Republic.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1256743 655 4 Electronic books. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aTrue, Jacqui.|tGender, globalization, and postsocialism.|dNew York : Columbia University Press, ©2003|z0231127146|z0231127154|w(DLC) 2003043483 |w(OCoLC)51629689 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=92087|zOnline eBook.
