Where the FCS systems are today. 520 The Future Combat Systems (FCS) program was the largest and most ambitious planned acquisition program in the Army’s history. The FCS was intended to field not just a system, but an entire brigade, a system of systems, with novel technologies integrated by means of an advanced wireless network. Moreover, the FCS-equipped brigade would operate with new doctrine that was being developed and tested along with the materiel components of the unit. The FCS was central to Army modernization plans. In 2009, the FCS program was cancelled, and some of its efforts transitioned to follow-on programs. In 2010, the Army’s Acquisition Executive asked RAND Arroyo Center to conduct an after-action analysis of the FCS program in order to leverage its successes and learn from its problems. This report documents the program’s history and draws lessons from multiple perspectives, including the conditions leading up to the program, requirements generation and development, program management and execution, and technologies. 546 English. 588 0 Print version record. 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 610 10 United States.|bArmy|xProcurement.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85140694 610 10 United States.|bArmy|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /n79063202|xWeapons systems|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002006550|xEvaluation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00005674 610 10 United States.|bArmy|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names /n79063202|xTechnological innovations|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001009095|xEvaluation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh00005674 610 17 United States.|bArmy.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 533532 650 0 Armored vehicles, Military|zUnited States.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009115603 650 0 Technological innovations|zUnited States|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2008112666|xManagement. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002007911 650 0 Systems engineering|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85131750|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n78095330-781|xManagement.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002007911 650 7 Weapons systems.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1173046 650 7 Evaluation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/916975 650 7 Technological innovations.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1145002 650 7 Armored vehicles, Military.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org /fast/814878 650 7 Management.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1007141 650 7 Systems engineering.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1141455 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 710 2 Arroyo Center.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n93002955 710 1 United States.|bArmy.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79063202 776 08 |iPrint version:|aPernin, Christopher G., 1973-|tLessons from the Army's Future Combat Systems program |z9780833076397|w(DLC) 2012045151|w(OCoLC)818327364 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.7249/j.ctt3fgzv9|zOnline eBook.
