Medicare's payment system for physicians' services that
became effective January 1, 1992. In addition to providing
detailed background information and explaining all
features of the physician payment system, The Physicians'
Guide is also a reference for physicians and their staff
to use in answering particular questions about the system.
The 30th edition of The Physicians' Guide reflects a
detailed discussion of Medicare's payment policies, as
well as 2021 relative values. It also provides updated
information on new payment rules that took effect in 2021;
more details are provided for each of the American Medical
Association (AMA) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)
codes on applicable payment policies and policy actions
the AMA has taken since the enactment of payment system
