France fielded a relatively small force put together using small, scalable combined arms taskorganized units as basic building blocks and conducted a campaign that emphasized speed and maneuver over force protection. The French force, moreover, is for all intents and purposes regionally aligned, and it demonstrated the benefits that could accrue through its apparently effective operations among and with local and regional actors. The French also have a force structure well suited to expeditionary operations in austere environments, as well as an expeditionary institutional culture. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (RAND, viewed October 25, 2014). 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 647 7 Tuareg Rebellion|c(Mali :|d2012-)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1907633 648 7 2012|2fast 650 0 Insurgency|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85067073|zMali.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79007504-781 650 0 Military assistance, French|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85085150|zMali|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79007504-781|xStrategic aspects.|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2001008690 650 7 Armed Forces.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/814586 650 7 Evaluation.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/916975 650 7 Insurgency.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/975461 650 7 Military assistance, French.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1020957 651 0 Mali|xHistory|yTuareg Rebellion, 2012-|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh2013001455 651 0 France|xArmed Forces|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85051171|zMali|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79007504-781|xEvaluation.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh00005674 651 7 France.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204289 651 7 Mali.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204327 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 710 2 Rand Corporation,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n78083407|epublisher. 830 0 Research report (Rand Corporation) ;|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/no2013072664|vRR770. 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.7249/j.ctt14bs2pj |zOnline eBook.
