It was the winner of the 2018 Papatango New Writing Prize, and premiered at Southwark Playhouse, London, on 31 October 2018, produced by Papatango Theatre Company. It toured in a co-production between Papatango Theatre Company and English Touring Theatre in 2019. The play is set in a 'small divided town in the Midlands' in 2015. Ayesha is a twenty-seven-year-old British Pakistani woman, and co-director of a Muslim funeral parlour with her husband Zeyd. When Tom, a gay man in his late twenties, walks in to organise his boyfriend's funeral, a snap moral decision, informed by the values of Ayesha's community and faith, has profound consequences, and Ayesha is forced to confront a secret she has hidden even from herself. The premiere production was directed by Hannah Hauer-King with set and costume design by Amy Jane Cook. It was performed by Aryana Ramkhalawon, Maanuv Thiara, Tom Morley and Jessica Clark. 588 Online resource; description from resource and publisher's metadata (viewed on 30 April 2020). 590 Bloomsbury Drama Online Nick Hern Books Modern Plays - Annual Update 2020 650 0 Muslims|zGreat Britain|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2010102031|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 0 Muslim women|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85147398|zGreat Britain|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79023147-781|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 0 Gay men|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85061798|zGreat Britain|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n79023147-781|vDrama.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 0 Undertakers and undertaking|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85139607|vDrama.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 0 Funeral rites and ceremonies|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85052380|zGreat Britain|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n79023147-781|vDrama.|0https: //id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001612 650 7 Muslims.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1031029 650 7 Muslim women.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1030996 650 7 Gay men.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/939117 650 7 Undertakers and undertaking.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1161039 650 7 Funeral rites and ceremonies.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/936223 650 7 Gay men.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0000506 651 7 Great Britain.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204623 655 7 Drama.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423879 655 7 Drama.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/genreForms/ gf2014026297 655 7 Academic theses.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026039 655 7 Academic theses.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1726453 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://doi.org/ 10.5040/9781784605452.00000002?locatt=label: secondary_dramaOnline|zOnline eBook via Drama Online.
