Andrew Asibong argues that at the heart of NDiaye's world lurks an indefinable 'blankness' which makes it impossible for the reader to decode narrative at the level of psychology or event. Considering each of NDiaye's works (including her novels, theatre, short fiction and writing for children), Asibong assesses the aesthetic, emotional and political stakes of NDiaye's portraits of impenetrable selfhood. His book provides an original and provocative framework within which to read NDiaye as a simultaneously hybrid and hyper-French cultural figure, fascinating and fantastical practitioner of the postmodern - and reluctantly postcolonial - 'blank arts'. 542 1 |fThis work is licensed by Knowledge Unlatched under a Creative Commons license|uhttps://creativecommons.org/ licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/legalcode 546 In English. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 590 JSTOR|bBooks at JSTOR Open Access 600 10 NDiaye, Marie|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n86075231|xCriticism and interpretation.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005576 600 17 NDiaye, Marie.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1479098 650 7 Criticism and interpretation.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1198648 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Criticism, interpretation, etc.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1411635 776 08 |iPrint version:|aAsibong, Andrew.|tMarie NDiaye |z9781846319464|w(OCoLC)857110254 830 0 Contemporary French and francophone cultures ;|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2005049199|v30. 856 40 |uhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/j.ctt5vjd7h|zOnline ebook.
