Conclusion. 520 The New Canadian Pentecostals takes readers into the everyday religious lives of the members of three Pentecostal congregations located in the Region of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Using the rich qualitative and quantitative data gathered through participant observation, personal interviews, and surveys conducted within these congregations, Adam Stewart provides the first book-length study focusing on the specific characteristics of Canadian Pentecostal identity, belief, and practice. Stewart asserts that Pentecostalism remains an important tradition in the Canadian religious landscape--contrary to the assumptions of many Canadian sociologists and scholars of religion. Recent decreases in Canadian Pentecostal affiliation recorded by Statistics Canada are not the result of Pentecostals abandoning their congregations; rather, they are indicative of a radical transformation from traditionally Pentecostal to generically evangelical modes of religious identity, belief, and practice that are changing the ways that Pentecostals understand and explain their religious identities. The case study presented in this book suggests that a new breed of Canadian Pentecostals are emerging for whom traditional definitions and expressions of Pentecostalism are much less important than religious autonomy and individualism. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Pentecostalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85099634|zCanada.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n79007233-781 650 0 Pentecostal churches|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85099633|zCanada.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n79007233-781 650 0 Pentecostalism|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85099634|zOntario|zWaterloo (Regional municipality) |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n82149772-781 650 0 Pentecostal churches|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85099633|zOntario|zWaterloo (Regional municipality)|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82149772-781 650 7 Pentecostalism.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1057199 650 7 Pentecostal churches.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1057180 651 7 Canada.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204310 651 7 Ontario|zWaterloo (Regional municipality)|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1331704 655 4 Electronic books. 655 4 Libros electronicos. 776 1 Stewart, Adam Scott.|tNew Canadian Pentecostals./. |dWaterloo, Ontario : Wilfrid Laurier University Press, 2015.|kEditions SR|kEditions SR|w(CaOONL)20159015928 776 08 |iPrint version:|aStewart, Adam Scott.|tNew Canadian Pentecostals.|dWaterloo, Ontario : Wilfrid Laurier University Press, [2015]|z1771121408|z9781771121408 |w(OCoLC)898533667 830 0 Editions SR.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n84749618 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1433496|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
