The authors begins with a brief description of the evolution of products liability doctrine in the U.S., up to the point of the liability crisis of the late 1980s. They discuss the economic implications of product risk for both consumers and producers, offer economic hypothesis on the implications of the increased scope of liability and subsequent reforms, and provide an update of trends in litigation and liability law. The book ends with a discussion of pending legislation and prospects for further improvements. Moore and Viscusi make the point that effective liability policy calls for a balancing of the incentives for improved public safety on one hand, and the benefits of new and existing products on the other. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Products liability|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008109321|xHistory.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Products liability|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85107225|xEconomic aspects.|0https://id.loc.gov /authorities/subjects/sh99005484 650 7 Products liability.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1078370 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Products liability|xEconomic aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1078396 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 700 1 Viscusi, W.
