Because we are treated not as individual, unique human beings but as objects, our intrinsic, authentic sense of self is annihilated. This primal wounding breaks the fundamental relationships that form the fabric of human existence: the relationship to oneself, to other people, to the natural world, and to a sense of transpersonal meaning symbolized in concepts such as the Divine, the Ground of Being, and Ultimate Reality. In this book Firman and Gila apply object relations theory, self-psychology, transpersonal psychology, and psychosynthesis to the issues of psychological wounding, healing, and growth and show how this wounding can be redeemed through therapy and through changing one's way of living. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Transpersonal psychology.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh86001276 650 0 Self-destructive behavior.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85119733 650 0 Psychosynthesis.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh86004895 650 2 Psychotherapy.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D011613 650 2 Self-Injurious Behavior.|0https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/ D016728 650 7 Transpersonal psychology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1154910 650 7 Self-destructive behavior.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1111606 650 7 Psychosynthesis.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1081722 655 4 Electronic books. 700 1 Gila, Ann.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n96089165 776 08 |iPrint version:|aFirman, John, 1945-|tPrimal wound. |dAlbany, NY : State University of New York Press, ©1997 |z0791432939|w(DLC) 96043767|w(OCoLC)35714464 830 0 SUNY series in the philosophy of psychology.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n93017105 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=5361|zOnline eBook.
