Analytical translation of Songbooks 100 and 101, and Manual 1, excerpt. 520 "In this project, David Tavárez examines the largest and least-known corpus of Indigenous religious texts in the colonial Americas. These were detailed calendars and cosmologies based on pre-Columbian Zapotec cultural norms written by Indigenous scholars for other natives. These calendars, based on traditional Zapotec concepts of time and space, were to be used to plan marriages, burials, and healing treatments, and, most importantly, to provide a detailed schedule for offerings and sacrifices to be given to human ancestors and gods. Using his extensive knowledge of Zapotec, Nahua, and Spanish, Tavárez is attempting the first full interpretation and historical analysis of the collection alongside historical papers in Mexican archives to understand this period of change and instability"-- |cProvided by publisher. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (EBSCOhost platform, viewed June 7, 2022). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Manuscripts, Zapotec.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85080779 650 0 Zapotec mythology|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects /sh94000778|vCalendars.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001483 650 0 Religious calendars.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh85112615 650 0 Zapotec cosmology.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2007009591 650 0 Zapotec Indians|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85149664|xSocial life and customs.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2001008851 650 0 Zapotec language|xWriting.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh85149667 650 0 Zapotec Indians|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85149664|xHistory.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005024 650 0 Zapotec Indians|xAntiquities.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85149665 650 7 Manuscripts, Zapotec.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1008530 650 7 Zapotec mythology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1184092 650 7 Religious calendars.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1093958 650 7 Zapotec cosmology.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1744680 650 7 Zapotec Indians|xSocial life and customs.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1184077 650 7 Zapotec Indians.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1184061 650 7 Zapotec language|xWriting.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/ fast/1184088 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 religious calendars.|2aat 650 7 Zapotec Indians|xAntiquities.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1184062 650 7 HISTORY / General.|2bisacsh 655 7 Calendars.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423764 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Dictionaries.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026086 655 7 Calendars.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026055 655 7 Dictionaries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423826 776 08 |iPrint version:|aTavárez, David Eduardo.|tRethinking Zapotec time.|bFirst edition.|dAustin : University of Texas Press, 2022|z9781477324516|w(DLC) 2021027220 |w(OCoLC)1245579320 830 0 Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long series in Latin American and Latino art and culture.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ names/n2001108572 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=3108070|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
