"Following an attested practice of Vivaldi and his contemporaries, the absence of any sinfonia in the manuscript was remedied by the use of a work by the composer presenting the same structural characteristics as his opera overtures and belonging to the same creative period as Orlando furioso. We selected the brilliant sinfonia in C major for strings and continuo RV116, preserved at Argen and Dresden. This piece ... is typical of the language of Vivaldi's opera overtures ..."--Notes, p. 36.
