Summary Program #820 : Title: What has France done? "France has elected a new President. In many important ways Nikolas Sarkozy represents a break from the past. He is a member of a new political generation, has a non-French heritage, and advocates closer ties with the United States. He also stands for an aggressive approach to overcoming French economic stagnation and building communal harmony. Patrick Chamorel explains his programs and his prospects."--Track sheet.
Program #821 : Title: Bosnia and European Union: promise and problems. "Little more than a decade after it was a synonym for devastating conflict Bosnia-Herzagovina is a candidate for European Union membership. If successful, it will help anchor the Balkans region more securely in the European community. There are major obstacles that Bosnia will have to overcome to gain EU admission. Strengthening its constitutional guarantee of democracy and providing greater support for minority rights are two of their main challenges. Nida Gelazis explains both the problems Bosnia faces and the way they might be overcome.
