Summary |
New York artist, art critic and professor of art in the Rider University, Deborah Resenthal lectures about the modern technology which came with World War I and deeply impacted the works of a group of artists in Paris who saw a new world being born around them and constructed a new way of representing that world. Through slides Rosenthal presents the works of some modernist artists and discusses the anxiety of the new technology and the romance of it in the 20th century paintings. Painting ideas, emotions, movements and the consciousness to see beyond reality, the idea of painting as a window and opening that window on the new emerging world are some of the highlights of her presentation. Questions and answers are included. |
