Drawing on her study of an English manor in the early-fourteenth century, she finds that rural women were severely restricted in their public roles and rights primarily because of their household status as dependents of their husbands, rather than because of a notion of female inferiority. Adolescent women and widows, by virtue of their unmarried status, enjoyed greater legal and public freedom than did their married counterparts. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 648 7 500 - 1500|2fast 650 0 Women|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85147274 |zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n82068148- 781|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99005024|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99001484 650 0 Women|xHistory|yMiddle Ages, 500-1500|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85147306|vCase studies.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 0 Sex role|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85120663|zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82068148-781|xHistory|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh99005024|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 7 Women.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1176568 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Sex role.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1114598 650 7 Rural conditions.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1101474 650 7 Women.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0001509 650 7 Womyn.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/homoit0001516 650 7 Gender roles.|2homoit|0https://homosaurus.org/v3/ homoit0000577 651 0 England|xRural conditions|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ subjects/sh2008103195|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001484 651 4 England|xRural conditions. 651 7 England.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1219920 653 Rural regions|aWomen|aSocial conditions|aHistory, 1154- 1399 653 England 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Case studies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423765 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Case studies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2017026140 776 08 |iPrint version:|aBennett, Judith M.|tWomen in the medieval English countryside.|dNew York : Oxford University Press, 1987|w(DLC) 86005122 830 0 Oxford University Press paperback.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/names/n84745700 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=143645|zOnline eBook.
