Summary |
The author describes the usefulness of shorthand and stenography, then introduces his new system called "Stenographic Sound Hand" which is claimed to be faster and more consistent than any other system. The author reviews how his system deals with diphthongs, the consonants "l" and "r", long and short vowel distinctions, and other consonants. A chart is included comparing three other shorthand systems (Byrom's, Taylor's, and Lewis') to Pitman's on the number and type of strkes used by each system. Two Plates show examples of the Stenographic Short Hand alphabet and three short documents, the Lord's Prayer, Psalm 100, and the Rules of LIfe" transcribed into Stenographic Short Hand. The author announces that he is preparing a "Manual of Stenography" that will detail the new system. |
