Conclusion. 520 This book explores higher education, social class and social mobility from the point of view of those most intimately involved: the undergraduate students. It is based on a project which followed a cohort of young undergraduate students at Bristol's two universities in the UK through from their first year of study for the following three years, when most of them were about to enter the labour market or further study. The students were paired by university, by subject of study and by class background, so that the fortunes of middle-class and working-class students could be compared. Narrative data gathered over three years are located in the context of a hierarchical and stratified higher education system, in order to consider the potential of higher education as a vehicle of social mobility. Jessie Abrahams is a PhD student in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University, UK. Ann-Marie Bathmaker is Professor of Vocational and Higher Education at the University of Birmingham, UK. Harriet Bradley is Professor of Women's Employment at the University of the West of England, UK and Professor Emerita at Bristol University, UK. Tony Hoare was Director of Research in Widening Participation, University of Bristol, UK, from 2006 till 2015. Nicola Ingram is Lecturer in Education and Social Justice at Lancaster University, UK. Dr Richard Waller is Associate Professor of the Sociology of Education at the University of the West of England, UK. 588 0 Online resource; title from PDF title page (EBSCO, viewed August 18, 2016). 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Education, Higher|xSocial aspects|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2009124643|zEngland|zBristol|0https ://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n80079493-781|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh99001484 650 0 Social mobility|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85123976|zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82068148-781|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 0 Social classes|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85123921|zEngland|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n82068148-781|vCase studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh99001484 650 7 Education, Higher|xSocial aspects.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/903107 650 7 Social classes.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1122346 650 7 EDUCATION|xHigher.|2bisacsh 650 7 Social mobility.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1122648 650 7 Higher & further education, tertiary education.|2bicssc 651 7 England|zBristol.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1209154 651 7 England.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1219920 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Case studies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423765 655 7 Case studies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2017026140 700 1 Ingram, Nicola,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2016149578|eauthor. 700 1 Abrahams, Jessie,|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2016149588|eauthor. 776 08 |iPrint version:|aBathmaker, Ann-Marie.|tHigher education, social class and social mobility.|dLondon : Palgrave Macmillan, [2016]|z9781137534804|w(DLC) 2016945988 |w(OCoLC)934194318 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=1195025|zOnline ebook via EBSCO.
