From 1815 to 1841, she kept journals about her career, family life, and encounters with slavery. Drawing on these journals and hundreds of other documents, this book explores the significance of education in transforming American society in the early national period. During this era, women often struggled to balance career ambitions with social conventions about female domesticity. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 600 10 Hutchison, Susan Nye. 648 7 19th century|2fast 648 7 1800-1899|2fast 650 0 Teachers|zUnited States|vBiography.|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2008112635 650 0 Women teachers|zUnited States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2002005250|vBiography.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99001237 650 0 Teachers|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/ sh85132964|zSouthern States|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh85125633-781|xDiaries.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh99003016 650 0 Education|zSouthern States|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities /subjects/sh2008102817|xHistory|y19th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2002006167 650 0 Education|zUnited States|xHistory|y19th century.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009102539 650 0 Educational change|zUnited States|xHistory.|0https:// id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh2009101806 650 7 Teachers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1144248 650 7 Women teachers.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1178592 650 7 Diaries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/892657 650 7 Education.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/902499 650 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/958235 650 7 Educational change.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 903371 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 651 7 Southern States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/ 1244550 655 4 Electronic books. 655 7 Biographies.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1919896 655 7 Diaries.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1423794 655 7 History.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1411628 655 7 Biographies.|2lcgft|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/ genreForms/gf2014026049 776 08 |iPrint version:|aTolley, Kimberley.|tHeading South to teach|z9781469624334|w(DLC) 2015010518|w(OCoLC)906234423 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=978196|zOnline eBook via EBSCO.
