A robust framework of spatial data, metadata, tools, and a user community that is interactively connected to use spatial data in an efficient and flexible way--known as a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) must be available for scientists and managers to find, use, and share spatial data both within and beyond the USGS. Over the last decade, the USGS has conducted breakthrough research that has overcome some of the challenges associated with implementing a large SDI. Advancing Strategic Science: A Spatial Data Infrastructure Roadmap for the U.S. Geological Survey is intended to ground those efforts by providing a practical roadmap to full implementation of an SDI to enable the USGS to conduct strategic science. 588 0 Print version record. 590 eBooks on EBSCOhost|bEBSCO eBook Subscription Academic Collection - North America 650 0 Spatial data infrastructures|0https://id.loc.gov/ authorities/subjects/sh2005004425|zUnited States.|0https:/ /id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n78095330-781 650 7 Spatial data infrastructures.|2fast|0https:// id.worldcat.org/fast/1738172 651 7 United States.|2fast|0https://id.worldcat.org/fast/1204155 655 0 Electronic books. 655 4 Electronic books. 710 2 National Research Council (U.S.).|bCommittee on Spatial Data Enabling USGS Strategic Science in the 21st Century. |0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/no2013026635 710 2 National Research Council (U.S.).|bMapping Science Committee.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n92117321 710 2 National Research Council (U.S.).|bBoard on Earth Sciences and Resources.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ n91086094 710 2 National Research Council (U.S.).|bDivision on Earth and Life Studies.|0https://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/ no2001053402 776 08 |iPrint version:|tAdvancing strategic science.|dWashington, D.C. : National Academies Press, 2012|z030926457X|w(DLC) 2012472014|w(OCoLC)816818772 856 40 |uhttps://rider.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http:// search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site& db=nlebk&AN=867657|zOnline eBook.
